1. God of unconditional forgiveness of all sin = Satan’s deception
When you ask for forgiveness in the sinner’s prayer, is God’s love so great that He right then forgives all your sin—past, present and future? Deceiving preachers present such a god—one who knows that you will definitely sin again, but is so loving that he forgives you for all time. The problem is this god of total and unconditional forgiveness does not exist—it is deception that leads to Hell. Servants of Satan preach that Christians will continue to sin and God’s love is so great to cover all sin for all time. But the Bible never says the blood of Jesus applies to past, present and future sin. In fact, Scripture explicitly says God only applies the blood of Jesus for forgiveness of sins that are past. Scripture also says that this forgiveness for past sin is conditional on living righteous and holy in this present life. Apostle Paul makes both points in Romans 3:23-25, but most pastors twist these writings of Paul to give you a god who tolerates and accepts your disobedience. Will you be deceived to worship that god who really is Satan, or will you in truth worship God the Creator?

2. Romans 3:23-25 has stumbling stones for disobedient; Justified, Redemption, Propitiation
Romans 3:23-25 says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God." There are two key points here. First, there is no total forgiveness of all sin past, present, future. Apostle Paul clearly says there is only remission or forgiveness for "sins that are past,"; most pastors blatantly ignore or skip this portion. Second, this forgiveness of past sin is conditional. Paul says it is applied to those who are "justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood." These words and phrases are a bit hard to understand as they are not part of our everyday language, but they explain how we become justified (which is God’s condition to forgive past sin). In a nutshell, being justified is being made just, that is, being converted to live a righteous, holy life. So, God forgives the past sin of those converted to do righteous, holy works. False teachers twist this passage from Romans 3 to define Bible vocabulary such as "justified by his grace," "redemption in Christ," and "propitiation through faith in his blood" as all empty of obeying the commandments of Jesus.

Apostle Peter warned such deception results in your soul’s eternal destruction. 2 Peter 3:15-16 says, "beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles…in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction…" God gave Paul wisdom to write scripture in a manner such that ungodly people who are not anchored in truth will twist Scripture and fall to their own destruction. God in all His love and wisdom intentionally made His Word a stumbling stone to evil, disobedient people. 1 Peter 2:8 says, "a stone of stumbling…even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient…" Apostle Peter does not say you stumble on the Word if you do not have a degree in theology or do not attend church services, he says you stumble if you are disobedient to the Word of God. God’s wisdom has created Scripture such that if you do not love the truth to obey the truth, you will be deceived to stumble on the word of God and fall to your own destruction. Let’s study Romans 3:24-25 with the pure intention to obey God so we do not fall in deception.

3. ‘Forbearance of God’ explained; God holds back on forgiving past sin until justified
These verses tell us of the forbearance of God. Forbearance is to patiently hold back from some action; but what is God patiently holding back from doing? Romans 3:24-25 says "…Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God." Remission of past sin is cancelling or forgiving past sin. The context tells us that God is forbearing (holding back) from forgiving past sin. The blood of Jesus forgives past sin, but it does not happen the moment we ask God to forgive. God holds back from applying the blood of Jesus to forgive past sins until we meet the condition of being justified by grace.

Biblical justification is not a common English word. Deceiving preachers say ‘being justified by grace’ is for God to declare unrighteous, sinning churchgoers as righteous, just people. But that is telling a lie, and God is not a liar. God is truth, and the Devil is a liar. Most pastors are children of the Devil, so they preach these lies of their father the Devil. As Jesus told religious leaders in John 8:44, "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He…abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." Present-day preachers and Bible scholars are children of the devil that teach the lie that you are justified by grace even while continuing in sin. They deceive you to think God will consider you righteous even if you sin. But Jesus said whoever does sin is a sinner. John 8:34 Jesus says, "Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin." Jesus is truth. God is truth—He will not declare a sinner as ‘justified by His grace’ because that is a lie that labels a sinner as a righteous person. God declares whoever obeys Him to do righteous works as justified.

4. ‘Justified by grace’ explained; Justification is transformation from sinner to righteous person
So being justified by grace is being transformed from a sinful, evil person into a just, righteous person. This conversion does not happen by our own willpower or strength, it happens by God’s power and cleansing work on our inner person. Titus 3:3-8 says, "For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works." This is another of Paul’s writings where preachers twist Scripture out of context and deceive the disobedient. These verses tell us those justified by grace are made by God into His heirs for eternal life. Justification is the process that washes away the filth of sin to make us worthy to inherit the kingdom of God. Most pastors isolate the phrase that says we are saved by God’s mercy and not by works of righteousness we have done. They then cunningly claim works of righteousness are irrelevant to go to heaven for those justified by grace. But this passage as a whole, defines ‘justified by grace’ as God transforming His people to become just, pure people such that they are able to do the righteous, holy works required for heaven. Let’s look at this passage from Titus 3 piece by piece.

"For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another…" (Titus 3:3) The first part is in past tense as it describes the evil, filthy, sinful people we were before being justified by God’s grace. "…But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior;…" (Titus 3:4-6). This next part says we cannot save ourselves from sin by doing any works with our own self-control and might. While enslaved to sin, even if we decide in our heart that we no longer want to continue in sin, we are powerless to live righteous and holy. This state of bondage to sin is described in Romans 7:15: "For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I." This portrays a person enslaved to sin—what he wishes to do he cannot do, and what he hates and does not want to do, he cannot help but still do. God’s love is not to let filthy sinners inherit His heavenly kingdom. Instead, God’s love frees sinners from bondage by washing and renewing their inner person clean by His Spirit, so they are empowered to do righteous, holy deeds. Justification is this transformation process making souls qualified to be His heirs. God’s heirs are His children, and God’s children are righteous and holy as He is righteous and holy. The love of God the Creator gives every soul the chance to be made worthy to be His child and inherit His heavenly kingdom.

"…That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works" (Titus 3:7-8). This final part exhorts those who have been justified by grace to diligently continue doing good works. God’s grace justifies us to make us capable of doing righteous, holy works; but, we are responsible for receiving and using this grace to obey God, so that we continue to be justified by the works we do. This is why Apostle Paul wants those who believe in God to be constantly affirmed and encouraged to do good works. Scripture gives the example of Abraham being justified by works when he obeyed God. James 2:21-24 says, "Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness… Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only." Abraham believed in God, and his living faith in God was evident by works of obedience. Abraham obeyed God even to the point of offering up his son Isaac. Scripture says he was justified by his works of obeying God’s commandments, and so was imputed or deemed as righteous in God’s eyes.

Justification is not a one-time event; it is a process of growing to be more and more righteous and holy to the standard of being as righteous and holy as God. Justification is by God’s grace AND justification is by the works we do with that grace. We cannot passively sit back and expect God will do all the work required to go to heaven. As God does the cleansing work to free us from sin’s bondage (that is, being justified by grace), it is our responsibility to receive His power and carefully continue doing righteous, holy works (that is, being justified by works).

5. ‘Redemption in Christ’ explained; Redemption is rescued from enemy of sin
Let’s circle back to Romans 3:23-24, it says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus…" This says we have sinned (in the past) but now are being justified or converted to be righteous people through the redemption in Christ Jesus. What is the ‘redemption in Christ’? Redemption is to be saved or rescued, and Jesus is the redeemer. What is Christ Jesus rescuing us from? Luke 1:68, 73-75 says, "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people…The oath which he sware to our father Abraham, That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life." In Old Testament times God rescued his people from enemy people so they would be free to serve God by living holy and righteous.

In the New Testament the enemy is within ourself, it is our own sin that results in God’s wrath and Hellfire. Christ Jesus redeems by rescuing us from the enemy of sin. Romans 8:7 says, "…because the carnal mind is enmity against God." James 4:1,4 says, "From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." Lust of the flesh and world are the primary cause of sin; because they are a part of us, they make us God’s enemy. If we repent and humble ourself to receive God’s grace, then Christ Jesus redeems us by cleansing our heart of these ungodly lusts, and we are no longer an enemy of God. Christ Jesus renews and transforms our mind from a carnal mind to a spiritual mind. This redemption occurs IN Christ, that is, the transformation only happens if we are spiritually attached to Christ. It is our responsibility to do what it takes to get into Christ, so that He will do this redemptive work in us. Titus 2:11-14 says, "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." These verses say Christ’s work as redeemer is to rescue from all iniquity. The redeemed in Christ are a purified people who live godly and righteously, zealously doing good works in this present world. It is living in this condition of sinning no more, that then leads to redemption for past sin.

6. ‘Propitiation through faith in his blood’ explained; Resurrected Christ removes sinning nature
Let’s return to Romans 3 to see how this happens. Romans 3:23-25 says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God." These verses tell us God is holding back from forgiving past sin, until we are justified by Christ Jesus who is designated as a propitiation. What does it mean for Christ Jesus to be a propitiation? And what does it mean for Him to be a ‘propitiation through faith in his blood’?

Propitiation is defined as the scapegoat from Book of Leviticus. In the Old Testament two goats were set apart to deal with sin. One was sacrificed as a sin offering for cancelling past sin. The other was kept alive as a scapegoat which symbolically took on the sinning nature of the people and carried it far away from them. Leviticus 16:8-10, 21-22 says, "And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat. And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORD'S lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering. But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness… And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness: And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness." The Old Testament scapegoat symbolically represents what Christ supernaturally does through the Spirit as a Propitiation in the New Testament. Christ Jesus as Propitiation is the scapegoat who takes and removes our very sinning nature away from us.

Jesus came as propitiation not when he came as man Jesus, but rather after He was resurrected as God. 1 John 4:9-10, 17 says, "…God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins…Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world." Acts 3:26 says, "Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities." God the Father has already sent Jesus back to us as the resurrected begotten Son Christ to turn us away from our iniquity. As the propitiation, Christ Jesus takes away our sinning nature so we may in this world live as righteous and holy as He is. This is the true love of God—not taking filthy sinners to heaven, but to removing the filth of sin so we may have boldness on judgement day to enter heaven. 1 John 2:1-4 says, "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." The purpose of Scripture is to instruct and exhort God’s people to not sin. If by chance one slips up and sins, Jesus Christ as the righteous propitiation is there to help any soul who chooses to obey His commandments. The evidence that you know Christ Jesus as the propitiation for your sin, is that you "keep His commandments." Most sinning churchgoers know the story of the man Jesus who is dead and gone, but they do not know resurrected Christ as a propitiation. Scripture plainly says those who claim to know Christ but do not keep His commandments, are simply liars empty of truth.

Now that we know what propitiation is, what does it mean for Christ to be a ‘propitiation through faith in his blood’? The blood of Jesus will only apply to supernaturally cleanse us from all sin, including forgiveness of past sin, if we walk in obedience to His commandments. 1 John 1:6-7 says, "If we say that we have fellowship with him [God], and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." The Bible gives a clear condition for applying the blood of Jesus: it is only for those who walk in the light as God is in the light. If we have faith in this promise regarding Jesus’s blood, we activate Christ’s work as propitiation as we look and hope for Him to cleanse us. True living faith in the blood of Jesus is walking in obedience to Jesus’s commandments, then His blood will forgive past sin and cleanse the inner unrighteous nature. Hebrews 10:16-17 says, "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more." This is the final cleansing work done supernaturally by the blood of Jesus. The inner being of the heart and mind are cleansed of intention, inclination, desire to sin and now have God’s law within them, AND God forgives or no longer remembers past sin. This is complete redemption from all sin.

7. Forgiveness of past sin is conditional on being converted to live righteous, holy in present
Let’s take a final look at Romans 3:23-25, it says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God." To summarize, the forbearance of God is holding back forgiveness of past sin until you are converted to be righteous (that is, justified by grace). True justification requires the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ as propitiation to wash you and turn you away from all iniquity. If you continue to be justified by your works of living holy and righteous in this world, God applies the blood of Jesus to forgive your past sins and fully cleanse your heart and mind from the very sinning nature. This is complete redemption from your enemy which is sin. If you have faith in the blood of Jesus, you will look for resurrected Christ Jesus with this hope. You will do what it takes to be spiritually in or attached to Christ. He will then appear to purify you to live godly and keep His commandments in this present world such that you are made an heir for the kingdom of God.

Satan as the deceiving serpent did not openly tell Eve to disobey God, he simply said there would be no consequence to disobeying God. So also, deceiving pastors do not openly tell you to sin, they simply give you assurance of heaven by saying you are ‘justified by grace,’ ‘redeemed in Christ,’ and ‘forgiven by faith in his blood’ while you sin. This is Satan’s original lie–there is no eternal consequence to disobeying God. Most Christians are happy to believe such lies that allow them to enjoy the pleasure of sin while still claiming to be children of God covered by the blood of Jesus. If you learn the Bible from Satan’s servants, you will worship a god so merciful and so loving that unconditionally forgives you of all sin for all time even while you continue in sin. The problem is that god is Satan. The true love of God the Creator is to turn you away from darkness, deception and disobedience so you may be qualified to inherit His kingdom. Acts 26:18 says, "To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me." Do not be deceived. If you are truly in Christ, you will turn to the light and power of God as proven by keeping the commandments of Jesus. Only then will you receive forgiveness of past sin and inherit heaven. Love the truth to obey the truth. Worship and obey resurrected Christ Jesus whose love is so great He blesses in turning you away from all iniquity so you may be made God’s heir for eternity.
